Key Responsibilities Operations Manager:

Provides support to various projects under management by coordinating project requirements with multiple support functions.

  • Liaison and coordination between service delivery teams in the field and support functions
    • Service delivery teams specialize in response and recovery services following recent disasters, including Hurricanes Maria, Irma and Harvey (primarily in USVI, Puerto Rico, FL, TX)
    • Support functions include HR, Finance, IT, Contracts & Compliance (based primarily in Houston and Washington DC)
  • Liaison and coordination of flows in both directions:
    • Receiving support requirements from service teams and translating them into service requests from the relevant support functions
      • These requirements may include staffing, equipment, travel arrangements, contracts advice, project accounting support, etc.
    • Receiving information and other requirements from support functions and communicating them effectively to the service teams in the field
      • These requirements may include information on professional staff timesheets and expense reports, invoicing information, performance updates, compliance deliverables, etc.
  • Manage the full cycle of requirement intake through execution and tracking requirement to completion

Experience and skills Operations Manager:

  • At least 5 years managing large projects, complex processes, and business operations
  • Strong project management skills, including:
    • Excellent communication skills written, oral and listening skills. Ability to present ideas clearly
    • Ability to demonstrate conflict resolution and strong critical thinking skills
    • Proven track-record of setting and meeting ambitious goals
    • PMP certification is a plus
  • Proven experience in coordinating project work across multiple technical teams and functional disciplines
  • Ability to learn quickly the fundamentals of response and recovery services. Knowledge of ICS (Incident Command System) is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic with a high attention to detail required
  • Ability to work unpredictable hours (our business specializes in disaster recovery: we surge to help communities when the need arises)
  • Ability to travel to disaster-struck areas from time to time

Working Conditions


  • While based in Houston, TX, this role will require frequent travel on short notice
  • This role will require occasional weekend and /or evening work.
